The History of our Eco Cab Service
In 1991, while on working Holidays in Australia after attending Saint Mary's University in Halifax,, the president of our company; Michael Langille spotted a giant three wheeled tricycle with one driver and two passengers traveling slowly along the roadside in a small tourist town called Cairns in North Eastern Australia. He “did a triple take,” then stopped in his tracks as do most people whom have never seen one of these vehicles before. He ran 4 city blocks to catch the vehicle at a red light. He asked the driver how to get a job driving this type of vehicle. The driver quickly told him and peddled away. Twenty years later; he has not looked back…pushing forward with the streamlining of his rickshaw services to become Canada’s largest independent fleet of Rickshaw and Eco Cab operations.

Our traditional hand pulled rickshaws are two wheeled vehicles x 4 feet wide, x 6 feet high x 8 feet long and are Canadian Made, reaching safe speeds at 3.5 km per hour, and with seating capacity for up to three adults. Safety features include wrap around reflective devices, an anti-tilt safety bar and protective rain awnings. These vehicles travel to the extreme right hand side of the roadway and the passengers enjoy a complete 180 degree panoramic view while seated comfortably inside the vehicle. Braking distance is approximately 4 to 6 feet at max speed. On level ground the rickshaw operator can propel the vehicle forward with “one finger” while 3 adult passengers are seated inside the vehicle. [It’s Physics 101].
The rear portion of the vehicle; the front portion, above the seat and the wheel disk covers, are the traditional branding areas which the vehicle has to offer. Seats have been branded in the past as well. In addition, the frames and seats can be ordered in custom pantone colors to match pantone colors within the artwork or logos of the Sponsor. Creative additions can be installed to these vehicles.
Our traditional Style Pedal Powered “Pedicabs” are 3 wheeled tricycle style bikes with a 3 seater chassis mounted at the rear portion of the bike. They seat 2 adults and 1 child comfortably. Safety features include rear and front reflective devices as well as drum disk brakes on the rear wheels. These vehicles reach a speed of 12 km per hour on level ground. The passengers and driver enjoys a complete 360 degree view of their surroundings. The body of the chassis is the traditional area for branding. This consists of a 3M vinyl, full wrap-around application. Creative additions can be installed to these vehicles.
Our Electric Assist Pedal Powered Pedicabs are the most modern design and most recent addition to our fleet of Eco Cabs. Boasting an ultra-modern futuristic appearance; these vehicles offer complete branding space with full wrap around vinyl gragics. Safety features include rear drum breaks, front drum disk brakes, rear and front turn indicator lights as well as a safety horn and headlight. Mirrors and 100% left-right visibility allow the driver to guide safely through traffic. Breaking distance is 4 to 10 feet depending on speed. The max speed is 15 km per hour. Seating capacity is 2 passengers [370 lbs.] whom are protected from rain and sun with a rooftop canopy body. The driver has the option to turn on the electric assist motor to assist him/her when moving forward from a complete stop.
One in every 3 set of passengers persists in tipping the drivers, even though the service is free. While conducting free ride marketing programs, our Brand Ambassadors direct 100% gratuity to be given to local charities.
